Dr. Jonathon O'Brien is a lecturer in occupational therapy at the University of Liverpool. He also holds an honorary contract with the National Health Service and practices clinically at a neurological rehabilitation centre. Previously, Jonathon was employed by the NHS for fifteen years. He was employed as an occupational therapy team leader for stroke rehabilitation in one of the country's leading stroke services between 2005-2015.

An overview of the role of occupational therapy in neurorehabilitation. The evidence underpinning the profession's role in this area will be discussed. The role of National Clinical Guidelines will be outlined. The challenges facing the profession in this field will also be presented.
