Lakany is an engineer with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh. She has worked as a researcher and an academic in the Universities of Edinburgh, Essex, Strathclyde. She is currently a reader in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool.
Lakany's research team focuses on developing methods to better our understanding of human movement and developing technologies for assistance, augmentation and rehabilitation of human movement this includes robotic exoskeletons and brain machine interfaces. Dr Lakany has extensively published in fields of gait analysis, human movement, applications of artificial intelligence and pattern recognition in engineering and medicine.
