I have completed nearly 15 years in the post of Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine at Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre and am the clinical lead for neurological rehabilitation for North Bristol NHS Trust. My clinical responsibilities include in-patient rehabilitation care for patients with complex acquired neurological disorders and delivery of an out-patient service in general neurological rehabilitation & specifically for spasticity and head injury. I act as clinical lead and Trust assessor for adult patients considered for Intra-thecal Baclofen treatment. I have mentored physiotherapists in learning botulinum toxin injections. I am involved in the development of rehabilitation services at Frenchay and in the community. I offer teaching to medical students and colleagues.
Neuro Rehabilitation : Triumphs and Tribulations
Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre is a public-private partnership in Bristol delivering bespoke neurological rehabilitation to very complex patients with acquired conditions. I will discuss the importance of rehabilitation, how this is achieved and the challenges that exist.
