Derek is responsible for setting up and overseeing SMSR''s new research grant programme. Previously he worked at Imperial College London and National Institue for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) where he project managed intentional research and policy advice projects related to money in healthcare spending. He holds an MSc in international development from Birkbeck College, University of London.
Living with Spinal Cord Injury - Unseen Complications; role of research.
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Results in total or varying degree of loss of sensation and motor functions below the level of injury. However, there are many complex chronic issues that are ''unseen'' like bladder or bowel function; spasticity'' pressure ulcers and urinary tract infections - all affecting a persons'' quality of life. This seminar gies a personal insight into living with spinal order injury (Ralph) and how latest research is tackleing chronic issues (Derek).
