Claire is a speech and language therapist by background having worked in neurology and specialising in traumatic brain injury for 25 years. Combining this clinical experience with studies in neuro-linguistic programming, adult healthcare training, and the performing arts, her aim is to ‘edutain’ on the foibles of the damaged brain and human communication and how we can support our clients better.
Claire lived for a decade on a Pacific island and the cultural contrast led to some of her own cognitive-communication hiccups. This adventure led her to insights into indigenous therapeutic storytelling for trauma healing. A return to Scotland allowed her to engage in a Masters in processing disorders of linguistic subtext in TBI clients and its impact on their social interactions. She took a vocational change of direction into rehabilitation case management, where she is the TBI clinical lead for HCML.
