The Brain Charity

Supporter
The Brain Charity offers emotional support, practical help and social activities to anyone with a neurological condition and to their family, friends, and carers. There are hundreds of different neurological conditions, including stroke, brain injury, dementia, brain haemorrhage, and many rarer conditions and we are here for every single one of them. Being diagnosed with a neurological condition can be a frightening and bewildering experience; many people face unemployment, poverty and social isolation as a result. We offer a range of services including, but not limited to: Counselling, Welfare Benefits advice, adult learning courses, confidence building courses, support groups for different conditions, employment support, Carers Advocacy, a legal service, supported volunteering opportunities, and a national information & advice service which includes a library open to the public and a national helpline. Over half of our staff team have neurological conditions, as do over 70% of our volunteers. The Brain Charity's base in central Liverpool is also home to The Brain Food Café, a community café which offers work experience for our clients, and a safe, healthy place to eat. Our centre hosts a range of social activities including craft clubs, speech & language sessions, a community choir, boccia and other physical exercise sessions. We have staff and volunteers based within The Walton Centre NHS Trust, a major neurological NHS hospital in the North West. Our team offer bedside and outpatient support within the hospital, and ensure people receive the emotional and practical support they need at a crucial time in their lives. We are a growing community and each year receive an increasing number of international enquires for information & advice which we are happy to be able response to.
