A New Initiative to Support Best Practices in Neurobehavioural Rehabilitation
The “Rehab Mantras” is a new initiative developed by a team of clinicians and researchers at The Disabilities Trust to help staff think about the underlying principles behind the neurobehavioural therapy approach to brain injury rehabilitation adopted in our services. These mantras are short statements which each summarise one key principle of our approach to rehabilitation (e. g. Every interaction is rehab). We shared twelve mantras over a period of twelve months, while also creating contents and activities inviting staff and the people we support to consider what the mantras mean to them, how they might be applied in practice or how they might be experienced. This session will describe how we developed and introduced the initiative, the research behind it, and how it might be adapted as an engaging complement to training in a other healthcare settings.
