The development of an integrated neurobehavioural rehabilitation approach.
The rehabilitation for people with acquired brain injury is continually evolving, with increasing recognition of the importance of approaches that adopt a multi-disciplinary biopsychosocial perspective focused on improving adjustment, social participation, and wellbeing. This session describes the key components of The Disabilities Trust’s neurobehavioural approach to brain injury rehabilitation, and how it has evolved and adapted in response to changes in patient needs and the broader UK social care and health provision environment. Recent outcome data are reported, which suggest that our approach is effective in providing rehabilitation through a model of incorporating an integrated clinical pathway that can benefit a more diverse range of people living with the heterogenous and long-term consequences of brain injury.
