Mental Health and Brain Injury: Promoting mental wellbeing

06 Jul 2022
Brain, Spine & Mental Health Theatre

Now more than ever it is important to be mindful of mental health issues in those who have sustained an acquired brain injury (ABI). Those who sustain an ABI are at an increased risk of experiencing short and long term effects related to mental health which in turn can lead to social isolation and poor quality of life. The Covid pandemic has had a significant impact on the population as a whole, however it has amplified the psycho-social difficulties those with ABI live with on a daily basis. Every professional involved in brain injury should be mindful of potential mental health problems, know how to recognise them and know how to find support. This session will consider mental health and brain injury with the main outcome of the session to provide information and strategies to support those who experience changes in their mental wellbeing following a brain injury.
