06 Jul 2022
Rehabilitation & Diagnostics Theatre
The session will review the clinical application of FES and its evidence for improving walking following MS, Stroke, Spinal cord injury and Parkinson’s. We will introduce the new clinical guidelines and discuss how FES can be adapted to suit the needs of a diverse range of patient presentation. Applications for training post stroke upper limb will be described and in particular, the control of chronic pain due to shoulder subluxation. Finally we will describe emerging evidence for the use of FES to control constipation in neurological conditions and IBS-C.
