If you are working too hard, change what you are doing. Active engagement is a key factor in motor learning, yet 'dragulation' is a common approach in daily physiotherapy sessions. The drawbacks of this approach are many: compromised safety for provider/patient; patient support impedes accurate assessment, yielding general approach vs targeting the client's specific deficits; poor motor learning due to passive therapeutic approaches. So why do we do it? How do we change it? Practical strategies presented will provide options that yield immediate benefits across the continuum of impairments.
