Johannes Höfener, founder and CTO of ReHub GmbH, started working on VR for health during his studies of computer science. In his Bachelor thesis, he focused on the accessibility of Virtual Reality for elderly and handicapped people. Together with his three co-founders, he used the outcomes to build Rehago – the Virtual Reality Training for stroke patients. Today, he continues his research on the usage of Virtual Reality in stroke rehabilitation at the University of Reutlingen.
How gamification can enhance rehabilitation – Experiences in Virtual Reality
Going through rehabilitation after stroke is a very tough time. In this seminar, you’ll learn, how gamified training can support patients and motivate them to perform their exercises regularly and at their best performance. Three-dimensional virtual environments need less abstractions than the two-dimensional interfaces of computers and tablets and make patients feel more natural in every interaction.
