Greater Manchester Connected Health City

Dr Adrian Parry-Jones is an NIHR Clinician Scientist and Senior Lecturer in Vascular Neurology in the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences and is an Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the Greater Manchester Comprehensive Stroke Centre, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Adrian leads the Greater Manchester Connected Health City Stroke Project.

Emily Birleson is the intracerebral haemorrhage Specialist Nurse at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust. Emily assists the Greater Manchester Connected Health City Stroke Project.

Dr Camilla Sammut-Powell is a research associate and medical statistician in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Manchester, where her role involves data analysis on routinely collected data within healthcare as part of the Greater Manchester Connected Health City project.

A learning health system for stroke in Greater Manchester

The Greater Manchester Connected Health City has supported work to develop a learning health system for stroke in Greater Manchester, where a centralised model of acute stroke care is in place. Datasets from across the pathway are being used to understand prehospital stroke diagnosis, management of haemorrhagic stroke, and prevention of recurrent strokes. To implement learning clinician facing apps have been developed for paramedics and stroke clinicians.
