The Countdown to Neuro: Five Weeks to go!

Today marks the start of our countdown to the European Neuro Convention. For the next five weeks, we will be giving you an in-depth look at what you can expect to see at Europe's only trade event for brain and spine experts. The theme for the first week will be surrounding content of the show - the speakers and the topics of their CPD accredited seminars. With a collection of the Neurology industry’s leading experts from a wide range of specialisations, there will always be a seminar relevant to your field of profession, whether it be brain or spine.

As one of the World’s leading Cognitive Neuroscientists, Dr Yaara Erez will be a speaker you will not want to miss. She is a cognitive neuroscientist from the University of Cambridge, and is leading a seminar in the diagnostics focus area on the topic of ‘cognitive mapping of the brain during awake surgeries for patients with brain tumours.’ Her talk will include details of what happens during the cutting-edge surgery, with patients regularly completing cognitive tasks to guide the resection and preserve essential cognitive function.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Treatment (r-TMS) is being covered at the event by Dr Martine Stoffels. Her seminar is in the brain stimulation focus area, specialising in the use of r-TMS in neuropsychiatric conditions. It will investigate whether r-TMS will benefit people who have neuropsychiatric disorders and will deliver an insight into what the treatment will involve - the conditions that can be treated, and the outcomes of treatment.

Ali Gibson has experience in the recovery of spinal injuries, as she suffered a spinal cord injury in 1996. Since then, she has dedicated her time to spinal cord injury recovery. Her seminar will describe both seen and unseen complications following SCI, using a visual analogy. Ali’s seminar will take place in the rehabilitation focus area and will not be one you want to miss if you are interested in the recovery of spine injuries.

Finally, Professor Gus A Baker, a leading professor of clinical neuropsychology, is hosting a seminar in the newly created Mental Health focus area. His seminar topic is titled: ‘The Additional Burden of Epilepsy: A Psychological and Neuropsychological Perspective. The seminar will consider the impact of epilepsy, its treatment and how it may be improved.

Make sure you cater your show experience to benefit your interests and expertise. Plan your day by looking at the seminars you want to attend, by looking at the seminar timetable on the digital show guide on the website.
